MANILA, Philippines — For fans of both Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez, here’s an interesting bit of news: They are going to have a concert together, their very first as husband and wife and after Regine gave birth to their firstborn, Nathaniel James. Aptly titled “Mr. & Mrs. A,” the concert will be held on Feb. 14 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

The government will pursue a plan to make the syndicated loan for the National Food Authority (NFA) eligible under the Agri-Agra Law to sweeten the deal for the participants.
Finance Undersecretary Rosalia de Leon told reporters that a committee comprised of representatives from the Departments of Agriculture and of Agrarian Reform are studying the mechanics of how to include the NFA syndicated loan as alternative compliance under the Agri-Agra Law.

WASHINGTON D.C.: The World Bank on Thursday (Friday in Manila) said that it released $500 million to help the Philippine government’s recovery and reconstruction efforts for the devastation caused by Typhoon Sendong.

MANILA, Philippines — The Northern Police District (NPD) confiscated assorted firecrackers and pyrotechnics in an operation in line with the “Oplan Iwas Paputok” being implemented by the Philippine National Police (PNP).

To improve the government’s disaster planning and response system, President Benigno Aquino 3rd has directed the Department of Budget and Management to release P1.6 billion to tap modern technologies for more accurate weather and disaster information.
