2011 Simbang Gabi and Parade of Lanterns – Los Angeles, CA

Los Angeles, 16 December 2011 – The annual Simbang Gabi and the Parade of Parols (Lanterns) was held last night at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels located in downtown Los Angeles. This year’s event, which was held under the auspices of the Filipino Ministry of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, was organized and coordinated by the San Fernando Region.

His Excellency, Most Reverend Jose H. Gomez, Archbishop of Los Angeles, led the Eucharistic celebration with the Auxiliary Bishops and clerics of Los Angeles. This year’s theme, which was approved by parish representatives from the San Fernando Valley Pastoral Region, is “Jesus, Our Light, Ignite Our Hearts to Evangelize” (Hesus, Aming Liwanag, Pag-alabin Mo Ang Aming Puso Nang Maipahayag Ka).

Different parishes, Catholic organizations, civic and non-governmental organizations throughout Los Angeles and the Philippine Consulate General, paraded their Parols (star lanterns) prior to the Eucharistic celebration.
